It's a good point. I was driving my wife's Toyota Sienna (minivan) today and noticed the little readout for Avg MPG toggled to Avg liters per 100km. Avg MPG was 17.4, while liters per 100km was 13.4. Two different ways of expressing efficiency (or lackthereof), but the second one, especially if increased to liters per 10,000km, would be a better choice. I like that gallons per 10,000 miles idea, too. Maybe it'll get some traction.
