does word of mouth still work?

I've been reading some different research studies on the most effective ways of communicating an idea. I'd like to try an experiment and i'd like those of you who read this to take part. Let' s see how word of mouth still works these days, do me a favor and send a link to this blog to as many people as possible.

This isn't some spam exercise, but more of a test of the power of a person referring something to a friend. I'll do it too and check back to see the results. if u have a thought about the effectiveness of word of mouth, let me know about it.
